My husband and I are trying to find the right place to live on the FL Panhandle. He's (IMHO) an awesome pianist - soulful and sophisticated at the same time. His style fuses Blues and Jazz with Flamenco/Latin influences, and is uniquely accessible to a wide audience. He is returning to solo piano performance after years of directing a nonprofit he founded, and we are wondering -- how is Apalachicola in the off-season? Do the restaurants do a decent business off-season or just survive? Would Apalachicola be a good place for a pianist like him, both on- and off-season?

Apalachicola is a small town, not much there. If you are set on the Panhandle there would be more opportunity for a musician in Panama City or Pensacola area if at all.

Apalachicola is very charming, but during the winter it is pretty quiet except for the weekends. Even then, your husband's music would be more a hobby than a paying proposition. I would like to suggest that you google "30A" west of Panama City and see if that might meet your needs. Lots of well healed Snow Birds during the winter there. Good luck with your search.
