To all who are terrified of the bugs. You really don't have to worry too much.
The only thing to stay on the look out for is the fire ants. The big green grasshoppers are harmless to us. They will eat the plants occasionally though. They will not jump on you and you only see one here and there once in a while.
The palmetto bugs aren't all over the place either. Don't let the bugs keep you from coming on down

I have to share this.........
when my family moved down here from the north we put everything we owned into a tractor trailor (including 1 car) and moved. we rented a furnished condo and put the trailor in a big industrial storage lot. I had a pick up truck that i drove down and that was parked at the condo. my 2 boys used the bed of the truck as their play are. anyway, all their toys were in the trailor so i went to it to get some out for them to play with. I went around to the back of the trailor and said "wow how lucky is this,,,,the guy backed the trailor right up to a hill that i can stand on to get in...." well, it was like stepping onto a pile of flour and down i went,,,up to my knees. it was the first time i ever even heard about fire ants. what an experience.
10 million little white puss blisters later and i was educated about these ants.

You really have to be very very careful of the fire ants. Those are the bugs I hate the most down here. Everything else doesn't bother me in the least!
