Well I know all you South Floridians are complaining about the rising cost of living (I mean surviving) here.

I know I am as I wonder on a daily, if not hourly basis how everyone is making it and why we are not. Just thought I would let you all in on a deep, dark secret of mine. I am a self-confessed dumpster diving diva! Yep that's right, in fact you may all see me driving my mini van around your neighborhood one day soon. I hit all the nice areas on bulk trash pickup day. This adds to further frustration on my part because I am amazed at what people throw out. I guess they must truly have disposable incomes. Over the past few months I have retrieved a brand new (still in box) camping stove - I sold on Ebay for $45.00, two great strollers, high chairs and countless bikes all in excellent shape (I make monthly runs up to the Broward Homeless shelter), a brand new office chair, tons of great kids toys, two designer vanity lights which were brand new with the working bulbs still in the lamps, and much more. I guess I am just amazed by the laziness and wastefulness of so many people. I mean not to even remove lightbulbs that WORK. WOW! I really don't understand why people are so lazy that they can't find an adequate place to donate all of these items. Anyway, I feel much better confessing to you. I think this is some sort of indicator of the area we are living in. I mean it's no wonder people were paying 500K for a 1200 sq. foot home. They just like throwing away their money!

Oh gosh, I too do the same thing. If I see something at the curb and it looks good, I get out of the car and look around to make sure nobody is watching and I pop it into the back of the car ! LOL

Heck, why not??

I used to scavenge a lot fromconstruction sites. They were often happy to have stuff taken away instead of paying dumpster fees. Nowadays they don't want to cooperate.
