Default Want to relocate

I was stationed in Jacksonville for a few years and I would like to return. I am currently a law student and will graduate in May 2009. I know there tends to be ALOT of negativity on these forums but I figured I would get some advice. There is usually some good advice sprinkled in with the negativity.

I want to be a prosecutor or public defender. I am not interested in going to a big law firm at all. A state's attorney makes about 40k a year in Florida. Where would be a good place to try if that is as much as I would make. I would like to be as close to ocean as possible. (Former Navy, I miss the water). I have a wife and a son(7). Any advice.

You might take a look at Merritt Island. It is a good family area, close to the water and has several communities you could possibly work in near by, if not in MI. Homes are reasonably priced and the schools are rated very high. Plus you can see the space shots too... the biggest of fireworks :-)

What county is that in? Unless I am reading the sites wrong it appears that all of the State's Attorneys offices are connected and the only place hiring is Dade County.. That being said, I will scatter my resume out the best I can.

Thank you

I doubt that only one county is hiring for the state attorney's office. The SAO is broken down by judicial circuit, so you'd have to check them each individually or you can go to jobs.myflorida.com and check out the listings there. Jacksonville is in the 4th judicial circuit if you are really interested in living there, just go to State Attorney's Office and follow their directions for applying.
