Did you get hit by a CAT 4 today? No. You got hit by a (barely) tropical storm.

Problem with Sandy was that the wind direction was one that trees were not "used to." Also the winds may have only reached 50 mph but the winds kept up for close to 12 hours, sometimes more. In Westchester we got barely 0.5" of rain, but there were massive tree-falls, power outages and, shortly after gasoline shortages.

The temperatures hovered in the low 50's after the storm, and then dropped to the point where, on November 7 with still lots of damage we got about 6" snow. Lots of people still had no power and thus no heat. It was ugly.

I was wondering how long it would take the Lib-Tards to blame this hurricane on Governor Scott...

It's Cat 4 right now as of 10PM and hasn't dropped below 3 for over 24 hours, so I don't know what alternate universe weather reports you're watching.

You also do know that wind speeds drop the further you are from the eye of the storm. Tropical force winds are fairly damaging and can cause significant storm surge so its a difference without much of a distinction.

***MOD CUT*** What you got hit by was not a cat 4, it was a cat 4 30 miles or more away from the coast but you didn't feel it.

This thing is just approaching the coast line. No telling what destruction it will do, but anyone from about Port St. Lucie to Daytona will probably wish they evacuated.

Governor Skeletor is a Republican so "fear mongering" is in his DNA !
Hence his "You are going to die if you don't evacuate !!" comment.

Meanwhile he doesn't care if 900,000+ Floridians don't have Health Care because expanding Medicaid to the Un Insured is "Socialism" !

Screw that; this storm could have taken a quick turn west and hit any of those areas directly. The cone of uncertainty included those areas. Luckily for those out in Boca, Ft. Lauderdale, etc, the storm stayed east, but those up north it is predicted to hit.

You are just playing hindsight, which is not right because everyone knows hurricanes are difficult to predict accurately, and their models have built in uncertainty in it that shows the areas where it is possible for it to hit.

I rather be safe than sorry, I do not see this as an overkill at all given the information.

Maybe a bit much, but there are stupid people out there that kind of need to be said directly and not leave it up to interpretation.

A smart person does not need to be told/advised of anything, they can just watch the weather and understand what to do.
