I snapped this about 25 minutes ago near St Joseph Bay. The sun was just getting over the dunes so the light is kinda funny.

Wow Wacahootaman. I love that woodpecker shot. And look at what he's done to the tree! This is probably about as close as I've seen what a little pecking does in real life. Thanks!!!

That redneck guest house looks just like what I'll be using if the homeowner's insurance rates don't get back to normal! :-)

Thanks, everyone for those bird shots. We get a pair of those woodpeckers in our back yard for a few weeks, about twice a year. They're a beautiful bird, but they can do a number on a tree. And you can hear them from a long way away when they're at their job!

Cil, what an eagle! Thanks again.

The tree is usually rotten before the woodpecker tears into it looking for bugs.

I dont cut down rotten trees anymore on my land unless they threaten my trailer.

This woodpecker is a close relative to the Ivory Billed Woodpecker which was long thought extinct but was reciently found in the deep woods in SE Arkansas.

Once I had a big male on my place that would see his reflections in the window of my trailer and thought it was another male and every mating season in the spring he would attack his reflection on the glass and tear up my screens. He did that for three years and I tried everything to scare him away, using fake rubber snakes and owls to no avail. I left the door open one warm spring day and he flew inside and I ended up killing him with great regret. I got tired of fixing the screens every year.

"Moonlight over Tampa Bay Venetian Isles"

Great shot Shores!

Being a country boy, I never saw the attraction of those waterfront neighborhoods in the city until your I saw your appealing photographs. I now see why people who love the water and the water view really are attracted to those places.

Beautiful, FI. Thank you. My favorite was the first one - like a postcard. Say, what was the streak across the sky? Was that the shuttle?

Thanks nomoresnow. That streak across the sky is indeed the most recent night launch of Space Shuttle Discovery.
