Yes - Fort Myers Beach itself is on Estero Island - at the north end of Estero Blvd. We drove further down the Blvd to Lovers Key or Carl E. Johnson State Park. The State Park itself is still on the Island.

I really don't think the tourists have found it yet. Shhhhh Don't tell anybody, lol It's really amazing. The State Park only costs $5.00 to enter. Inside the park there is lots of room for parking, restrooms, tram rides, and places to eat, rent canoes, etc. You can even rent lawn chairs and umbrellas.

Fort Myers Beach, on the other hand, was PACKED - and the parking is by the hour there. But Fort Myers Beach is definitely the "social scene." We took pictures along the way. I'll have to upload a few.

On the bridge to Estero Island or Fort Myers Beach. I was taking as many pictures as I could while we were on the high point of the bridge.

We were just past Times Square on Fort Myers Beach in the these pictures. Check out all the bikers!!! I can't believe I got such a good picture from the side window as we were moving!!! I'll resize and post just that picture next.

I thought so. I use to live there. We use to put in at Estero, the town, not Estero Island, and then go over to Lover's Key. I thought I recognized it. I have VERY fond memories of Lover's Key.

You are going to be moving to a really beautiful place that is just north of me - so we will be neighbors (not more than 5 or 10 minutes away). How cool is that?????

I plan on preparing you now (in the coming weeks) for what you are going to get to see for yourself later. We've lived here 10 years, and there are so many BEAUTIFUL sights and places to see. And we never get tired of the same old scenery, lol

But hang in there nomoresnow - and try to be patient. Even though we are here and getting to enjoy all these sights - we still have full time jobs!!

Oh yeah - and we just bought two lots in the Lake Placid area for our retirement home. It is BEAUTIFUL up there. Two more years, but we can visit on weekends...

hiknapster - you were answering my post while I was typing this one... We have so many fond memories of so many areas too!

OMG, Judlea! We're an hour from Lake Placid. PM me. Maybe we can get together for coffee up here or down there. Your choice! How cool is this??
