its been a few weeks since I check in here. plenty of great shots really like that back seat driver

Looks like you enjoyed your visit to my home town.
That first shot is the view I'm looking at right now from my office window. The tan string-like substance that is found on the palm frond in the second shot is the primary material that is used by the Florida Scrub Jay to build nests. Without that natural "string" found on the scrub palmettos, the Scrub Jays are unable to build nests and will leave the area in search for other scrub palmettos. The scrub palmettos are found in higher, drier areas, which are also the perferred areas for building homes. |

This has got to be my favorite thread on the entire forum. I love browsing the different states and looking at some of the pics they have posted, too.
Cil, the first pelican you posted~I've never seen one like that before. Does he have stubbles or is it feathers? Is he a real pelican cause he sort of looks like a wood carving? Sorry to sound silly, but I really don't know. ![]() |
