Default Floridian Gal wanting to move

I am ready to leave the sunny state of Florida with a Masters in Social Work in May. I plan on taking a road trip up the atlantic coast to the Northeast to explore towns and cities for a future place to call home. Any suggestions would be helpful. Places of interest include Maine, Vermont and Rhode Island.

Thanks!

While passing through Connecticut you might want to check out a few towns in Fairfield and Hartford counties. Those are the kind of places that already have a New England feel about them, yet big city lights of NYC are still within reach. The ocean is not far away either.

Did you spent a considerable part of your life in sunny Florida? If so, you may be better off treating Vermont as a summer/early fall vacation destination. Clouds with no end in sight coupled with all that snow may very well result in SAD over the winter.

Default Rhode Island's Economy is Grim

RI has the seventh highest taxes in the country and the state is in financial trouble. Providence is beautiful and so are our beaches. You would need to make a lot of money to just survive though. Good Luck. People up here are moving south to have affordable living.
