I read that they had to shut down one of the reactors in a plant near Miami, due to a emergency of some kind. They did not say what the emergency was, that caused them to shut down a reactor?
It may have been a routine safety precaution of sometime.

Computer hackers or....something that starts with a 'T'...... Well according to CNN, they're reporting that it was just a 'procedural' problem.

I witnessed a power surge but no outages and I can only imagine traffic at 5 being a major nightmare.

It hit Fort Myers too. Apparently a nuclear reactor owned by FPL shut down. Chaos!

I never lost power today. It started on the other coast and South Miami is still without power. They say it will be two hours to restore. This coast has a few places without power. here is a map of the power out on the west coast of Florida. In Lee County, there are numerous traffic light outages between Colonial south to John Morris Road and McGregor east to Summerlin.

The courthouse is running on back up generators. The whole Sam's plaza is down too. The traffic lights just north of the mall were out and of course people didn't know how to handle it. I haven't lost power either and I'm just a block away from the courthouse.

No traffic lights= treat it like a stop sign.
But have you seen some of these streets in Miami? I definitely agree that I'd hate to be caught in the middle of rush hour on a day like today...
