I am on battery backup myself at my parent's home near Bird Boad/Turnpike. The DSL was down and just came back. Remember this when we enter hurricane season, the power "grid" is seriously overloaded in Florida and extremely unstable. I wish I was at home now with reliable, free generator power.

I just had a quick surge. Wonder if it was related to that...where I am the grid is underground although I don't think that would have to do with anything considering this is probably a supply/demand issue.

Apparently theres a tornado warning in Port Everglades. So bizarre that you can have a severe thunderstorm 20 minutes from you and it's sunny where you are...

I'm in Port St. Lucie-- our community center and schools are out of power. Talk about unprepared- I was just getting ready to start a session with a student and everything shut down! I stayed on campus for an hour but my procedure is to head to my main office (at the agency) in the event of power failures. As far as I know, those kids are STILL in lockdown mode in a hot, un airconditioned building...But there havent been any outtages in homes as far as I know...

Was at Applebee's US one and PSL Blvd about 1:30 west side of Us One. Power went out. Thank god we were paying cash. The place was packed. What's going on with the power??? sounds like the movie "Live Free or Die Hard" The power went out everywhere in that movie.... Computer Hackers!
