I understand your argument. As a transplant, I guess I don't rock the boat very much because every single person who got my vote prevailed on election day. It's the first time in my life that has ever happened.

That's not too generalized is it? No more than being Red as in Republican on the dole from the federal government taking more than their contributing with an undereducated, unskilled workforce.

Statistics are meaningless for those of us not in the 1%. NYC, LA, and the bay area have much worse inequality than Florida, and even six figure earners struggle to afford home ownership in those locales. FL, by comparison,, is much more reasonable for those of us in skilled trades

And this is why education is important.

CA was/is a basket case, like some countries in Europe. A few years ago it was a bankrupt economy; the world's 8th largest 'bankrupt' economy. The feds were standing by(this can happen again, especially in a country with 20 trillion debt.)

The Biggest Reason Why California Is Bankrupt - The Atlantic

Nothing to mimic in CA(their credit rating sucks too compared to FL's).

Not sure what your point was, but basically Kyle is arguing that since California's economy is so large, it must be a great place to live when the reality is quite different for those not incredibly wealthy. A family making $200k in FL is going to be living a completely different lifestyle than a family making the same salary outside of LA or SF.

I have lived in both places and chopchop is exactly right. I was offered a job in san diego for close to 65,000 a year in my 20's and I thought would be living high on the hog, not by a long shot. I could never afford a house there and rent was 2000$ and well over that for any place decent. California is a great place for a millionaire or the wealthy or if you inherited a house, its not a great place for a young person or a young family to start a life, especially if you want to buy a house

amazing to see the reversal of that westward migration since the 1980s and 1990s, california was the place to be for most of the 20th century but its too expensive for most people to start your life there
