Park Vista High School
I just read online about the boundry change dispute concerning Communities west of Boynton Beach. The district is now going to start sending some kids to BB high instead of Park Vista. The district says more students will be affected as the years go on. I am looking to buy in that arera in the next two years. Anyone know exactly which developments are affected? Could not get a straight answer from the dist.

Hi Jaust,
I just read (on-line) that 49 new 9th grade (for Aug. '08) from canyon Isles, Equus and "other communities" would go to Olympic Hgts. H.S. The district will phase in the remaining grades through the 2010-11 school years. Many parents dread the change from Park Visa High, which is an A rated school to the D rated Boynton Beach Schools. (from dept. of ed. for 5 straight years came the ratings). Boundary changes for 2008-09 will have a final vote today. Hope this helps some! We have been concerned about the schools in the area as well. We have wanted something in Park Vista High area, and questioned, Canyon Isles, Cobblestone Creek, and Equus, as far as school zoning and building goes. It is scary how many homes and sites to build on are vacant and for sale in these communities. I know the market is not in good shape, but I couldn't help but wonder why these developments were in shape they are in. I guess I mean hear are these homes that were priced from the high fours (depending with dev.) to 2million and it looks barren almost, and the deals to rent are almost to good to be true. Guess the old saying-"If its too good to be true, it probably isn't true" stands true. Hope others have more insight on this issue. I would like to know what sub-divisions/communities are ok'd to stay in the Park Vista High School. Take Care.

From my understanding. Even if a student is assigned to the lower grade school the parent has an option to send the student to another school.

The loophole in the Park Vista saga has to do with public lunches. BB HS now has over 1/2 half of their students on assited lunch programs, which gives parents who are facing a high school change the ability to opt for a better school. So, I would investigate this a little farther, but it looks like you have the option to stay in Park Vista.

What I am not clear on is the zoning change for students at Canyon Or Cobbelstone going to be for the entire development? From what I read its about 70 students next year.

Could it be the 70 students you read about are the incoming freshman? It seems the plan would be for the entire development to be phased out of Park Vista between 2010-11. A realtor mentioned to us that new schools and parks are being built in the very area of Equus, Cobblestone and Canyon. Does anyone know if a high school is included in this? Will Isola Bella and Isola Bella Estates remain part of Park Vista? I ask because it is fairly close to the above mentioned communities and is also a "new" community. This can all be very confusing. Hope to hear more about it.

I currently attend park vista as a sophmore. My family is moving to canyon springs and i was curious if sophmores that are going to be juniors would be affected by the zones for next year. I hope that they wouldnt change a student that has already been attending. If anyone knows this information let me know.
thanks.

If you are already attending Park Vista, you will not be asked to leave. The School Board has set it up so that any new incoming freshman from the above named developments are now zoned to Olympic Heights in Boca. PLUS Alden Ridge, Country Fair, Sun Valley and Indian Wells were rezoned to Boytnon Beach HS BUT most of us have opted-out to also attend Olympic Heights.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Cobblestone or the Canyon developments and Olympic Heights is a great school which is also A rated and not nearly as overcrowded as Park Vista...

I attend Park Vista and Live in the canyon community: canyon springs. HOWEVER, all new stuents after this year ( regardless of grade) all have to attend Olypmic Heights- which is a good school. p.s. if anyone here is moving into canyon communities, if you need a babysitter let me know.
