There wouldn't be a trial and lawsuit. Cops pretty much nknow the law-it's been law for a long, long time.

No. You can't shoot someone for running over your lawn. You have to be in reasonable fear for your life.

Thats the thing, if its a HUGE threatening guy with a gun in his hand running right for you screaming he is going to rape your wife, then you could in theory shoot him because you were threatened as I understand the law, however if its a skinny kid running across your back yard to get to the next one, he makes no threats to you and is only going from one place to the next then NO you can't shoot the kid.

Its little nuances like that, that make it hard to relate off the top of your head what is permissable and what is not.
What I would be threatened by would be different then what a man would be threatened by.

It is prohibited by FL law to carry a concealed firearm in a "nuisance" area....or bad area....."known drug area". Keep that in mind..

Thanks for the tip- hopefully the fact that I was a lost tourist would help me-I certainly don't go to those kinds of places on purpose! Of course my wife hopped out of the car and used a pay phone at a shady looking 7-11 - she later told me she wasn't worried because she knew I'd protect her(!). I've tried to get her to understand that we don't tempt fate...
I carry because of people who DO frequent those areas on purpose.

No, not true. A place of nuisance is something like an illegal betting parlor or a house of prostitution.

Do you think most people in Florida carry a gun for protection? I am planning to move there, but really I do not know anything about guns.
Thanks
