Thumbs down owner problems

im am renting to own this house and i had to rip out all of the carpet because it was just a mess, the owner of the hose bought tile, and now he expects me to lay it for nothing anyone have any advice on what i should do?

Did you have permission to remove the carpet???? Just because you didn't like the carpet doesn't mean you had the right to remove it. Look at your contract to see who would be responsible to install the tile. Good Luck

I believe that you must have approval from the owner/landlord to remove the carpet. A few sites that might help:

You may of hated the carpet, but always try to do nothing out of your pocket in a rent to own situation. You have no guarantee that the improvements you make will come with you, and furthermore you're only adding to the value of the house. Not a good idea when renting to own, what if your future improvements add $10,000 more or less to the house, don't you think that he may reconsider the price he agreed to with you....Very good advice from Wendy & Sunrico to check your agreement and hopefully you had it in writing about the carpeting.
