This is a good move for the Sunshine State.

Wish the airlines would incorporate some of those ideas.

Train looks great!

This is the train that I would see all the signs 'Stop the choo choo'? I think we need more trains that go across the country. The airlines need more competition.

The only thing I don't like about Florida trains are so many train crossings. I grew up in the northeast and none of the towns and cities around the one I lived in had train crossing, they were all built so there was a bridge so the road could go under and the trains could pass above and no one had to stop and wait.

Especially bad are those annoying freight trains that come thru with over 100 cars in Florida.

I hope the train succeeds. I wish I could take Amtrak to the NE corridor but to do that you have to change trains and it ends up taking longer than driving.

I love traveling by train whenever I go overseas. I would love to have it in Florida as long as the cost isn't outrageous. Amtrak for example is like triple the price of an airline ticket and very slow, while in other countries, traveling by train is still pretty cost effective, while being more enjoyable.

They claim it'll be comparable in cost to driving in the article... we will see. $25 each way? I can drive 4 people to Orlando on $25 in gas - $6.25/ea. It won't be remotely that cheap, obviously. It needs to get to Orlando fast, comfortably, and inexpensive. I guess we'll see!

But if it manages to get there in 3 hours or less for a reasonable price, I'd use it semi-regularly. I hate driving and if I can relax on the free WiFi - sipping a drink, etc. Why not? With Uber, just roll into Orlando, grab a cheap Uber to your destination, no car to deal with, etc. It's great.

I'm excited to see where this goes.

Yeah I'd be very happy if the price is around $25.

Trains in Europe are not cost effective, they are heavily subsidized. Not saying that is necessarily a bad thing, but the fact is that ticket prices do not reflect actual cost.

My understanding is that All Aboard Florida ticket prices from Miami to Orlando will be $143 one way, so almost six times $25.

The train speed is 79-125 mph. That is not fast at all. With stops and wait times, certainly no faster than a car.

Moreover, once you reach destination, what do you do? Get in a car? Where can you walk to?

Please.

I hope I am wrong, but I do not see how All Aboard Florida will be commercially successful.

Yes, it is a great idea, but from the very beginning I always wondered in practical terms what are they really up to.
