Cool Beach on Pine Island?

I have searched on the internet for 4 days! I know Pine Island advertises "no beaches" but we want to stay on Pine Island so we can visit with a friend and still have a sandy beach! Can anyone help me with the closest beach to Pine Island? motel or condo?

Are you talking about Pine Island in Hernando county? Pine island there is nothing other than a name of a penisula that stretches out to a beach. There are no hotels there. You have to get a hotel in Brooksville or Springhill and drive the 10 -15 minutes to get there. The are not other beaches in the area other than Rogers Park on the Withlacoochee river. If your thinking of another place called Pine Island, I'm not sure where that is.

I think she means Pine Island in Lee County. You could see about staying on Sanibel or Captiva. Fort Myers Beach has a ton of hotels but it's getting to be Spring Break time so I wouldn't recommend it for a couple of months.

Thanks for the reply. That would be Lee County. Friends are at Saint James City. Seems just like fising town, which is fine for a day or two. But then we want some sand! We may have to stay there a while and switch hotels. That is another story! Even the Best Western at Fort Myers Beach starts at $289 a night. I didn't really want to drop 2 grand for just the motel. Thanks.

You could always try staying off the beach but nearby. Pine Island is a ways out but you could do anything in the middle. You've got all of Cape Coral and Fort Myers to check out for a hotel. Of you could even go a county or 2 up (Charlotte and Sarasota) and see how much those hotels run on the beach. It's still within an hour's drive to visit your friends in St. James City.

I live on Pine Island so hopefully I can help.
Pine island has one VERY small public beach. It's at the end of Tropical Point in St James City. It's a nice park, but the sandy area is literally only about 20 feet wide. It's more of a picnic area than a beach, but it is nice.
You may want to look into Bocilla Island Club rentals (just google it). They rent nice condos with great views in Bokeelia. They also have a nice private beach. It's located at the northern tip of Pine Island but is only 5 - 10 minutes from St. James City (depending on where in St. James).
It's not Sanibel or Fort Myers beach but that's a good thing to some of us
Let me know if I can be of more help.

If your friends are in St. James city, At the end of the Island (South) in St James is Hopkins Point, The Island you see to the south is Sanibel! If your friends have a boat, Sanibel is very close. Bocilla Island Club would be your best bet on the island but its on the north side of the Island, The KOA camp ground is also in St James if money is a factor. You can't get lost very easy on the Island, it only has two main roads Stringfellow Rd (North and south) & Pine Island Rd. (east and west) You could stay in Cape Coral ( it has a small man made beach) and is not far from Pine Island.
