I could have posted this anywhere on here but I wanted to post here in the Florida forums. I see so many people post on here that they are moving to Florida from another state and "they work from home so I can travel anywhere". I'm just curious how SO many people have jobs like that? If you have one like that, what do you do? I'm just amazed...........LOL

I own an insurance agency, i and my agents all work from home.
We communicate with each other all via text, skype, webinars, email and phone. We do most of our business face to face with our customers. We drive to their home for their convenience or occasionly do apps via email.
In my opinion, with the exception of a hand ful of industries and businesses, if you have a brick and mortar business you are behind the curve. Brick and mortar is becoming obsolete and will be in most industries within 10 years (maybe less).

ok, Interesting
I actually work for a Paramed Exam Service. We send the nurses to life insurance applicant's homes or businesses to complete their life or D.I insurance exams. I really wish I could do this from home but I have to be here to answer their phones, send out exams kits, etc. LOL

Thanks for sharing RedneckRebel

Hubby writes software for a company in Philly. He used to work out of an office there but when his Mom's husband passed away, he asked if he could telecommute from Florida and the owner gave him the go ahead. So we were able to move since he can work from anywhere. He just logs into the home office's system and also does conference call meetings on a weekly basis.

They've even supplied a phone and phone line with his extension since the phone lines all go through the computer at his work.

Computers are marvelous things

I worked from home reviewing real estate files for a major institution. Everything is digital, no paper files, so log in using a token, work on line securely. My son has worked in IT from home. Again so long as you have high-speed Internet and are not reliant on face-to-face team interaction, no problems.

Wow, that is so cool!! The savings in gas for the car and wear & tear on the car alone must be amazing. AND the time saved from not driving back and forth. That's so great!!

We had to go through some high security things here at my job in order to work with a major insurance company. I was "approved" to communicate with them using a token too. It was really something going through that---I remarked that it was trying to get into the Pentagon.

I do it too. Although I also have a job. But I keep up with it. A friend of mine moved from Florida to Colorado a few years back because he had just landed a job that allowed him to work from home.

Most people are probably posting on here while they are working in an actual office. Don't let their boss find out.
