Not happy with all this growth in South Alabama. When I moved here it was a nice charming rural area with only a few thousand people. Now it's getting crowded with cracker box subdivisions with strip malls & bland chain restaurants everywhere. A real shame greedy developers got to ruin our rural lifestyle with their urban crap. Don't even feel southern anymore because of all this growth.

Figured I'd ask about the Florida panhandle because this seems like the only southern part of Florida left. I drove through parts of central Florida & it was nothing but rude yankees & endless urban sprawl.

There are some rural areas West of Ocala to Gainsville and even some East of there. Not a lot of growth in these areas.

There are a lot of non-growing/slow-growing areas. US27 from Clewiston north through Lake Wales, US17 south from Lakeland through Arcadia, US 60 west of Vero Beach to east of Brandon and US98 north of Crystal River on up to Crawfordville represent some of the largest sections.

I was recently out working in Trenton. Nice rural town with a southern charm. I don't see it (or neighboring towns) getting any major development in the near future, as most growth is focused in areas surrounding the major cities (Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, and to an extend, Ft Myers.)
