Hey Guys, so to cut a long story short I purchased a car online via eBay from a business in Gainesville Florida in Jan 2017, classic mustang I'm in uk was planning on shipping over, over $5k and now guy is trying to fraud me out of a full refund after not delivering. It also came to light the vehicle was not his and then tried selling me an inferior vehicle.

I am a hard working family man and this is a large amount of money, with me being so far away I feel pretty helpless. Can anyone recommend anything? I have a friend not far away but he's away on business for next couple of months, I've contacted various bodies but really need someone to just visit the business so the seller understands this is more than just an online buyer thousands of miles away who has no power to have money returned. I can even compensate and add some on top for time and assistance. Also if anyone can recommend some legal aid that would be great.

Contact ebay and they will refund your money.

I agree, contact ebay. There is also a state dept of consumer affairs in many states. Good luck. Also, how did you pay? Some cards also can help by contacting the seller.

Already done thanks ^ have been speaking to attorney general rep yesterday. I think I could avoid time being wasted if I had someone local or maybe even a call or letter from some legal aid.

Sorry you are going through this, hopefully you can get something done through an attorney, but at least you will learn a valuable lesson

There is not much you can do I don't think. It's a civil (money) matter now and you will have to take him to small claims court if it's under $5K or so or a different court if it's over that amount. Seems you have been scammed. You should not have purchased a car from overseas nor from a reputable company. I guess you can try charging him with theft since he didn't deliver the car and it seems like a scam. If you are dealing with a deadbeat who is trying to cheap you then your money is gone, even if you win a judgement they can't force him to pay.

When you go outside of eBay and don't use PayPal this is what can happen.
