Hi everyone, For the last 4-5 years I've had the standard sunshine state plate on my car. If I wanted to purchase a speciality plate how do I go about doing that? I've done a few searches on Google and cannot find a straight answer. Has anyone done this in the past?

Thank you

Just go into a local tax collector's office at renewal time, and they can recalculate the renewal fee and issue you most plates on the spot. (Our local offices have a good stash of the more popular ones like the panther and manatee; not sure if you're talking something pretty niche like New College)

From the tax collector website: (You should go check your local tax collector website and verify)

"Specialty Plates (Tags)
The State of Florida currently offers various specialty license plates or tags. These plates carry unique designs and are created to honor the plate holder and/or benefit a specific organization.

The annual fee for these plates ranges from $15.00 to $25.00 (excluding military tags).

In addition to the annual use fee, there is a $5.00 per year processing fee.

Also, there is a $28.00 plate fee when a new plate is issued.

The annual use fee and the processing fee are charged each year in addition to the registration renewal fee.

Specialty plates may be obtained at any Tax Collector Office or tag agency."

Thank you so much!
I'm debating between sea turtle or the support education plate.

I'm actually surprised to hear that it's that cheap. I thought it would be more the. The 15-25 dollar annual fee and the one time $28 issue fee.
