Not always true. Friends of mine that lived in Miami, they now live in Santa Monica, and would never move back to Miami/Florida for that matter. They think LA over all is better for them. Again its all subjective.

Yes, and depending on how deep your pockets are you could live anywhere and feel this way. On a basis of the typical person, there are more high tech jobs in Socal then here, but the cost of living ratio is worse then here even if you make an above average salary.
Excluding the weather factor, because unless you rich you have to work to live, the issues that plague people here on cost of living are just as bad there. That's my point.

nowhere to go
Despite how anyone feels about where one lives, the facts are the same. If you have a mortgage on your house with little money in it, your probably not moving anywhere unless you can take a hit. Renting is probably the best bet right now to keep one mobile if you can get out.

Not only that but quality jobs that pay a livable wage in relation to the high cost of living.
I don't think there is anyplace else to go where it's better at the current state of the economy.

The only reason I have not left is because I want to wait and see if the real estate bubble bursts. If my home falls to 2001 levels in assessed value, I am staying. If not, it's "adios" and I am out of here.
