Is it as spectacularly beautiful as in these pictures?

Looks pretty accurate. The second picture shows one of those afternoon storms that sometimes roll in off the ocean with little advance notice.

Not missing anything unless you are 80 miles offshore fishing and that is where the real fun starts.

It's paradise. Just watch out for the sharks.

The water pics look about right.

Regarding the second one, though, do a 180 and face New Port Richey and you'll see traffic and slums.

Some people love the water. I find it incredibly boring after a couple years. Would rather be in the mountains (and will be soon).

Nothing but run down hoods from Holiday to Hudson. No real beaches in this area anyways.

Down here in South Florida, I would say it even looks more beautiful than those pictures. Though it depends day-to-day (wind, lighting, cloud cover, and other factors I haven't figured out yet).

I live on the Ocean (on Ocean Dr), I see it everyday (and hear it) from my Condo, right now it's teal with white foam from the waves.

But ultimately, human nature being the way it is, you take it for granted very quickly.

The area you posted is the Shark Capital of Florida (and maybe the USA). Where I live, I never saw a shark close to shore (but a friend of mine has) but I've seen plenty of rays, barracudas, and jelly fish.
