Worry more about lovebugs splattering all over your car's paint, or no-see-ums, or getting scorched by the sun.

As far as rude people, it's all relative I guess. I find people here (especially natives) by and large a lot more friendly than where I moved from.

We're pretty frequent visitors to Florida, but over the years I've seen plenty of gators but never known of any attacks.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ater/85916280/ You just have to respect their habitat, just like any other wild animal, you don't bother them and they won't bother you. As far as sharks, it depends, you're more likely to encounter them on the Atlantic side of FL than the Gulf side, and the water is pretty clear so easier to spot. As for rude people, where do you live? You don't encounter rude people there? I have found most places are mighty friendly, of course we usually frequent the west coast and in my opinion that side of FL is more laid back. What I've found is, if you bring an attitude expecting rudeness, you'll find it.

More likely to be in an accident driving to the beach, store, school, etc., than bit by a shark or alligator.

You usually hear that from the rude people.

Never had a problem and have visited over many years and am about to move to FL.

I've lived in Florida now for 14 years and the things I worry about the most are:

(1) Hurricanes (I know I will hear from loads of people saying this is not worth worrying about but I have been in direct hits three times and on the outskirts another couple of times so it will remain a worry for me)

(2) Lightning (Tampa has the highest rates of lightning strikes in the country)

(3) Crazy drivers (I've almost been killed on my bicycle and on my husband's motorcycle several times - people in Florida don't share the road very well).

Alligators and sharks are very far down the list. And while I encounter rude people I've encountered about the same mix in all places where I've lived. Just ignore tem to the best of your ability and move on. I'm not sure I would consider them worth worrying about.

I live near the beach and haven't seen a shark or been tasted by one. If you need something to be afraid of consider being struck by lightning in the area between Tampa and Orlando. Ex

Lakeland area is the top rated place for strikes.
