We're highly considering a move to FL. Based on school district rankings, we've already checked out St Augustine. The #2 ranked city on niche is Sanford. But are these rankings really the "standard"? Are there other areas we should look into?
Thanks!

Actually the St Augustine reference is to St John's County and not so much the city itself but the unincorporated areas at the north end just south of Jacksonville in/around Julington Creek, Nocatee and Ponte Vedra Beach. The Jacksonville metro area does especially with it's public schools as Nassau County (primarily the area around Fernandina Beach and Yulee on Jacksonville's north side) and Clay County (the county to the west/southwest of Jacksonville) primarily around Fleming Island, are ranked along with St John's County in the top 15 school districts in the state (out of 67) on Schooldigger which is a good source for school rankings and tends to be more accurate about top performers than GreatSchools or Niche in my opinion. Sarasota County also does very well consistently and is 4th behind St John's (#1) and Nassau (#2) on Schooldigger. To be honest much of Sanford/Seminole County's higher rankings are based off of magnet program performances and aren't as reflective of the general student population. If more inclined to have your children not caught up in the uber-competitive magnet program curriculum and prefer a school with better overall standards, I think you would find Northern St John's County, Fleming Island or Fernandina Beach much more conducive. It's also a very nice area close to a lot of great amenities.
