I'm planning on moving to Florida at the end of the year. Does anybody have any information on Navarre? Like is the cost of living higher here than panama city? What about jobs are they hard to find. Is it a good place to live? I don't know anything about Navarre if anyone could help me it would be appreciated.

Hi Scuba,

I do not live there. But if you hit the search button above, and type in Navarre, you will get back a lot of info on the town. I know I have seen a lot written here about it.

good luck

Are you talking about Avalon in Destin?

The Avalon Beach area is fine but you have to be really careful about flooding. Also, there probably won't be sewer, just septic. But, it's an area just off I-10 with a reasonable commute to Pensacola so probably not a bad investment for the long run.

And scubadiver, you are asking about a bunch of cities in Florida but you're not getting many replies. You might want to give a little more information about what it is you're looking for. Are you looking to rent or buy, do you care about schools, what type of employment, what do you expect from a community, etc. It would really help people to answer your questions about Panama City, Fort Walton, Gulf Breeze, Pensacola, and Navarre.

Look for posts by Sunrico90. Our resident expert on that area, and seems to love it!

Small town, great community, friendly, safe and A+ schools...Very small in relation to business, most jobs in FWB.

Like is the cost of living higher here than panama city?
I consider the cost of living low, more tourist in PC, housing is cheaper and plentiful.

What about jobs are they hard to find. Most of us work in FWB. We have a large number of military members (just like PC), (I'm retired from USAF) most of the contractor jobs, best paid is at FWB...

Is it a good place to live? We love the locale, 10 years and planning on staying in this area...Low crime, large lots in the residential communities, and just friendly folks.. you can't go wrong.

I always mention that is not a perfect place, but compare to other areas is very safe and welcomes everyone. All depends in your needs, traits and desire to adjust to a small town. We posted many threads about Navarre and the surrounding areas, do an advance search and get the info..

BTW we call this place Paradise....

Default Paradise

Hi,
I have been following a lot of threads on the area (Navarre, Ft. Walton) and really appreciate your input, sunrico90. Thanks. We live in our little paradise up here in Michigan, but because of the situation up here (jobs) will consider moving if offered a position out of state. We have a possible opportunity there in FT.W, but are really wanting to find something similar to the small town we live in here, if possible and was wondering is there is anything similar in the area. Here is what we would hate to leave: great schools (plus multiple state champ football team); friendly people; many stay home moms; great pride for the community and lots of school spirit; small, cute town with quaint shops that are near the river dam where we have ice cream shops & boutiques & coffee shops; town fairs & events; bike trails, canoe rentals, & some of the best fishing in the state. It is a quaint tourist place as well, especially for seniors, outdoorsmen, women, and Red-Hat ladies. I know nowhere will be exactly the same, but anything close to a fair trade?
