I'd live where ever I want to on any given day.

A couple hundred grand on a state of the art motor home.......outfitted properly with generator, solar and storage batteries. Leaves plenty of cabbage left over for fuel, and the finest resorts to stay in for quite some time.

No worries about hurricanes, snow storms, what ever. Something coming your way, turn the key, and get your whole home out of the way. Come back after the dust settles.

Property taxes, maintenance, etc. etc. etc. are for the birds.

You will need a very good financial advisor because the property taxes would eat you alive.....

Some states don't allow you to live in a motorhome without having another primary address....

Many fulltimers use S. Dakota or Texas as their primary residence due to their tax laws, etc.

If you don't aim for Single Family Homes, there are still a lot of choices like condos in Honolulu that are below $1 million. But the condos here are notorious for its HOA fee. Some can run up to over $1K/month. And property price and rent can move up and down, but HOA fee will be only one way -- UP.

Otherwise Honolulu should be the top choice for residence if you have $1 million.

I considered Hawaii. Too congested, too far from the Mainland....too expensive cost of living.

I mean that if somebody has an extra $1 million, Honolulu will be the top choice of residence. He probably wouldn't mind to spend that extra couple hundred bucks to fly to Mainland.

Actually Honolulu is more convenient for flying since it has direct flights to dozen of cities in Mainland and Alaska. It has also direct flights to many Asian countries. It operates 365 days -- unlike many cities in the 48 states which are disrupted by snowstorm in winter or hurricane in summer.

Do you have a friend/family member that lives in a fixed location?

Have your mail sent there, they can forward it to a mail drop near wherever you might be staying at any given time....... this really isn't rocket science, ya know.
