The point being they're not truly that large and not an obvious conclusion. These are city statistics, not metro area numbers. Orlando's population for instance is just shy of 280K which is on the small end of medium-sized city status, framed within 100 square miles. Those are some pretty dense crime numbers when factoring population and population density. Miami is another example of crime density with considerably more than Orlando (450K) living within half the square mile (55). Jacksonville has 880K within it's city/county limits but spread out over 875 square miles so while it's numbers seem high, not really when factoring density.

Miami and Broward spill over crime goes into the affluent areas of SoFla, Boca Raton has had a lot of issues with this, crooks and thugs know there is $ there, so smash and grabs, robberies/murders at the local Mall remained unsolved years later. Some woman was shot in the face within the past year or so off of Glades, attempted car jacking.

I worked in Delray years back near a bad section of town, when it was worse than it is now and we had break-ins and thugs riding around on bikes in the middle of the afternoon, some woman who worked at a business next to us was carjacked by a group of teenage thugs and taken on a high speed chase on 95 in which the thugs wrecked the car, she survived but was severly traumatized.
