New Jersey unemployment rate is 7.1%, it's highest level in 15 years.

N.J. unemployment rate jumps full percentage point to highest figure in nearly 15 years | APP.com | Asbury Park Press

I don't know any unemployed people personally in Florida, doesn't mean that there aren't any.

Yeah but..........

New Jersey has WAY LESS PEOPLE- so that 7.1% represents a much smaller number than in Florida.......

I'm pretty sure that Florida's unemployment rate is AT LEAST 7.1%

I would love to see this same thread in the NJ forum; just to see how they would feel about Florida Vs. NJ and whether they would defend NJ to the tooth like the people defend Florida here.

NJ does. It also has the proximity to NYC and Philly for jobs there also.

New Jersey is one of the world's great economies. Its diverse economy provides great wages and opportunities to both blue and white collar workers. It also has the lowest business operating costs in the Northeast. Its proximity to large cities like New York City and Philadelphia gives its residents even more employment options. A powerhouse state like New Jersey cannot be compared to a tourism dominated state like Florida. New Jersey has some of the highest wages in the US, while Florida falls way below the national average.
USATODAY.com - Highest wages in East, lowest in South

If Massachusetts unemployment is 7.5%.... Florida has to be 8%+ LOL.

True on the salaries and wages HOWEVER it has THE highest car insurance and property taxes in the country. Not sure what they grade or rank the school systems on but I'm not that impressed with NJ schools. NJ is a politically controlled and motivated state. Things WILL not change here for years and years to come as the cronnies keep taking care of thier own. NJ is also the MOST crowded per square mile in the Union. Jersey shores???...ugh No thanks. Looking forward to getting out. Oh and if anyone is interested I have a nice farmette for sale in South Jersey!!! 6 acres, twenty miles outside of Philly. PM me!!
