I agree that it is harder to come over here since 9/11, but I have to say, I've met so many Brits here, of all ages, they must be having *some* success.

Wigan?!! I was born in Newton-le-willows and have family still close to the area.
My cousin has been working in the US through his company based in England. He now owns a second home in Bradenton. Sounds like you have a lot of very good info here from the input. Another great business is Pack and Send... like the UPS Brown Stores. If in the right location, it can bring you a good income. There are several in the Bradenton/Sarasota area for under $150,000. Good luck to you.

Default hi

Well you are correct Blue willow, but in my experience, alot of them came over pre 9/11 and i know from what i hear in the ex pat community that sadly alot of them had difficulty renewing their visa's and are actually here illegally, this is actually very common surprisingly enough which shocked the heck out of me. Many Brits who come out here, do so by buying a business, with the exchange rate what it is, it is the easiest and best option for most. In years gone by just buying property here would allow you to get some sort of extended visa, not anymore and the rules are very strict.
