I wish I was close enough to the ocean to see red tide, Lake Erie has dead fish floating everywhere but the water is so dirty you cannot see anything but scum.
No pretty emerald color or nice sand or beautiful houses like that pictures shows, oh trees are only alive 3 months a year too.

This used to happen to me (several times) here in ny when I had my old car (dent in the side). It's extremely annoying. Especially when you're walking away from your car and they start trying to flag you down like its something urgent.

I wonder if they still sell those RONCO inflatable tubes you hang on your car to prevent that!

elfyum is right -- all of this crap (flyers on the windshield, etc.) happens in NY too, plus its impossible to park here

Chelito - again, I'm from NY! THERE you take public trans everywhere. THERE you have homeless people & freaks EVERYWHERE! THERE you have to watch your back! THERE people pull out guns on busses. THERE you don't look people in the eye. THERE you better know where you're going or look like you do! Etc etc...

HERE you get into your car & DRIVE everywhere! So where are the homeless & freaks on 95???!!!
YOU'RE IN YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!! You don't/can't walk around!
And actually, I lived on The Beach for 10 years & walked EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!
I walked home at 3AM every night from work in SOBE. I walked home at 2AM every night from work in mid beach. There were stories that the parking lot was not safe. Two people were killed & stuffed in a trunk. I didn't use the parking lot, yet...When we moved to Miami (golden glades area) I did. I heard people had headlights & stereos stolen. My car looks like that of someone who would do the stealing! Again, no prob there.
Granted, I am lucky. But life is a gamble. MANY people have been the victims of identity theft. Many people have had their homes destroyed in fires or hurricanes. Many people have been in accidents. This is ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! To see Miami as any different than any big city is crazy! EVERY city has good & bad areas! Sure maybe for the population we are right up there, but for the notoriety, '"glitz" & culture we're up there as well!
Ok - just looked - we have a BIGGER pop than St Louis!!!
Does anyone wanna guess the NUMBER ONE DANGEROUS CITY???
SAINT LOUIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Case CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have lived in Charlotte, NC - Los Angeles, CA -Augusta, GA - Atlanta, GA - Asheville, NC - Myrtle Beach, SC - Tampa, FL - and Johnson City, TN. Except for the major hurricanes that hit down there, you guys aren't describing anything or showing any pictures of anything that I couldn't have found in any of the above cities. There are bad areas everywhere. But in Asheville, NC we don't air all our dirty laundry on the net. I go to Florida a lot and love it. The negativitiy on here is amazing to me. The cost of living there is about half what is was in LA and also in other areas of Cali.

The trolls will get you for saying that.

Thank you, many have yet to experience what worse or bad is because they have not been there and done that. Like you, I have and I will take my chances in beautiful Fla. baby !

St Louis......... thank you for posting that info, I was lost driving through east St Louis and will make sure I do not do that again. That was a nightmare.

Default Abandoned chickens, animal sacrifice and drought

Have more to do with over-population and illegal activity. Write, call your senators about it and protest amnesty for illegals that we are letting happen for lack of protest. Coming to a neighborhood near you. And don't think you are exept! Take this time and call your senators!

Bless those who do come here with good intent. Unfort., rain falls on the just and unjust. Unless we call our senators witha protest. Vote coming down this week. Quite possibly today!

I have been in the cities, allot, and been in every major city in Florida and most of all the small towns and there is no way the worst of Fla is worse then these above.

Until you have experience being in a cross fire, a gang fight inwhich we witness a stabbing, have a brick tossed in your window, you car spray painted as you stop at a light, tires cut while paying for gas, someone telling you to leave the city you dont belong here, piles of homeless asking you for money to get something to eat, etc then you do not know how good you got it.

I have seen all those above and in those cities above and can honestly state in hundreds of trips to Florida I have not seen anything yet that compares to things we seen in St Louis, Detroit, Chicago or Baltimore.

.
I am from Florida (all parts...Norland, Miami, Hollywood, Hallandale, Miami Gardens, Carol City, Hialeah, Orlando, Deltona, ALtamonte Springs, Lake City, Tallahassee, White Springs ) and i have lived in different parts of Tennessee, California, Arizona, and Texas. The things i do know are from my experiences in these places and dealing with people i have run into in these places.

Now most people that are from somewhere like NYC, Chicago, Baltimore, have lots of people that have lived there in thier communities for many years and dont usually have an overflow of people from a specific region of the U.S. flooding thier city....they do however have some transplants...Here in Florida we can tell how most New Yorkers are because a majority of people we run into in daily life say that they are from New York...and in Florida its the exact opposite because we dont just have a couple transplants ....we have a majority of outsiders coming from a specific region of the U.S....

So what im saying is that we can judge a New Yorkers habits better than a New Yorker still LIVING IN mANHATTEN can judge how a Floridian's habits are....

I always hear the same things from people up north....and i cant say by my own opinion that things are worse or better in any area because i havent been NYC or Chicago Or Baltimore.

But i used to do the same thing that the people from NYC or other places try to do to Floridians when i moved from Miami to Nashville.....At first i hated the idea of moving to Nashville being from Miami....I had an attitude that the people in Nashville could never have seen stuff like ive seen in Miami....So i tryed my hardest to point out what would happen in Miami in certain situations compared to what i was seeing in Nashville....and you know what ?.....no one from Nashville wanted to hear all of that because they have thier own set of problems to deal with so i learned that i was really waisting my voice by trying to prove that Miami was worse...so i decided to stop proving things.......it was wasting my time

Well i am mainly from Miami but am a person that has the whole "Florida" scope having lived in all of the parts of Florida.....Now when someone comes down from "Tha Bronx" or anywhere else and trys to convince me that i wouldnt survive there in the streets walking at night..i get offended and i know exactly what they are really trying to do because i used to do that when i thought i was the bigger man being from Miami living in Nashville.....

So when these people tell me how people in Florida havent seen the stuff that goes down in a "real" city i just point to the statistics and most of these people will deny the statistics because thier city isnt in the top 10 when they claim they have seen worse....maybe in thier personal experience they might have seen things but statistics do show who has the higher rates of crime so no matter what your city looks like or where it is located the numbers don't lie.....

To Northerners you look at Florida and see "nice" looking buildings and sunshine with palm trees....Being from Florida i look north and see older looking cities with garbage from 100's of years of a city being beaten by time....but in Florida we are a new state as far as having our own culture and cities so our cities dont look as bad as they really are in some areas.....if you are in Manhatten walking around from what my mother told me ...she said she felt no real fear of being robbed or anything..but she took a train up to the Harlem area with her tour guide that was trying to show a Florida Girl his town.....she said she started to feel nervous a little bit when they reached the Bronx.....and the difference from those Northern cities compared to Florida is that the feeling of watching your back only happens in certain areas in those older cities and in Florida cities things happen in any part of town...

I was robbed in Altamonte Springs at gunpoint at 3 oclock in the afternoon with people around and the sun out with palm trees and there wasnt alot of gutter garbage on the ground or graffiti on the walls....and this is how it is in Florida .....not saying things dont happen in nice parts of town in those northern older cities but i know by reading the statistics of each city that Florida has more stories like mine then in the nice areas of those towns......

for proof of this i urge you to watch the news videos of each crime story for the cities you are comparing and report the number of bad stories in nice "looking" parts of each city and report the overall crime of each city back to the people you said would never survive in your city.....

CBS TV News Affiliates - CBS News

Personally i think St.Louis, Detroit, and Camden NJ.....are places that could be very dangerous and i am saying that being from Miami......i do give respect to other ghetto stories or them having the same problems or worse than mine but there are statistically places that cant talk to me about being a worse place even if there is a crime problem there....like Brooklyn....or Boston...or Tha Bronx...or lots of places where people claim it is hell on earth but the statistics dont show that view on those places......

Tupac Shakur said that he grew up in the streets of NY and Baltimore but he learned the game of the streets in California...now this proves that you can learn something from places you never thought you could learn from and for us people that are from Florida we have seen the changes and heard stories that are more native to our state and an outsiider shouldnt be able to tell us we dont have a really bad crime problem in our state when they havent really had the real threat of a gun being forced in thier face....but only the ones that post stuff against Florida know personally if they have "truly" experienced these crimes they speak of or have truly been in the ghettos they are so afraid of.....we are just sharing our own states problems on here really and thats what we can relate to...

God Bless

P.S. ......I am not all for crime ...having been a victim of it..but dont tell me the Bronx is worse because maybe ive had a gun in my face in Miami or Orlando and the person telling me the bronx is worse has only had fears while walking through the Bronx but never had the gun in thier face...and vice versa

Here is my Florida experience of how i remember having a fear of driving through some parts of Miami......pictures say a thousand words....tell these people that they are having a great time in the sunshine and palm trees.....

some homeless people sleeping like babies in the beautifull weather

more homeless sleeping in the awesome florida sunshine : ) ...yeah

looks like some one is giving all the kids some disney tickets under an overpass right out of his trunk

even more Florida sunbathers lying down next to that orange tanning bed building

Nice Florida housing....just takes a crate and a cardboard with your belongings and you are living the Florida Dream

We are a young and vibrant part of the U.S......I Wonder why the second floor has bars on the windows...you can't reach up there......lol

Yet more of Florida's awesome bedding in paradise why move anywhere else when you can enjoy these luxuries....

TOC is on a distinguished road
i am somewhat surprised at what some people on here view as poor living conditions, or problems they face in their state....yes the streets of certain parts of miami are bad, yes there are drug and crime problems scattered throughout the state...but guess what, many states have problems like this.

and i honestly can't believe some one posted a drawbridge or telephone poles! wow what a terrible thing. come to the northeast US and experience real traffic. come smell the disgusting air spewing from the nuclear plants and factories. come swim in all of our polluted lakes and rivers. come and get stressed out of your mind so that you go grey when you are 30. come spend $450,000 for a 1200sqft house that was built in the 70's and needs about
$30K of work done to it. come spend $7,500 a year in property tax on that same home. and by all means, come up and talk to the most arrogant people you will ever meet.

the grass is always greener on the other side, but compared to other states, i think you guys have it pretty good and i know theres always some bad with the good. but unlike other parts of this country, ie the northeast, the good in florida actually outweighs the bad.
