Hey the "I'll fix your car" thing is a s c a m/rip-off. You gotta be careful!! Soemtimes they trick you into giving them your car keys and they steal your house key from the kyechain, run your plate through a database and go to your house and burglarize it. Yikes!!
OMG... you were a state-certified mediator!!?? You must be crazy... specially in these divorce/child custody cases, people threaten the mediators.... I am glad you moved and don't do this anymore, it is a crazy job!

lol- Christian- mediation offices had special "panic buttons" to remove people(to protect the judge) you should have seen the circus- it was actually funny. Some of the claimants that came in- well suffice it to say- they were living in the streets- the state had fun pulling their chains, and sending them out without a penny.

I think you guys just like to complain. Go to the beach and relax.

LOL.... dude, check out this extract about Pine Hills.... right north of Orlando.
Pine Hills, Florida (this is 5 minutes north of Metro West going up on Kirkman road, a upper middle-class area in SW Orlando.
Once a blue collar suburb of Orlando, Pine Hills now suffers from high unemploment and crime. The area is often called by the derogatory nickname "Crime Hills", and "Choppa City" by others in Central Florida.
"Choppa City"... do you know where that comes from? From the automatic machine guns that go off in Pine Hills and SW Orlando all the time. I have gone on a Pine Hills tour in a friend's old Caddy (the only "safe" way to tour the area - people think the Cadilac people are drug dealers or pimps).
We saw crack dealers opening having guns on their waistbands... OPENLY. Everyone has two pit bulls on their front porch, chained to a tree.
I have been to the ghetto outside Baltimore, MD (by mistake, got lost back in 1990), but it was safe compared to Pine Hills.
Ps. If you have not been to FL in a while, it is not what it used to be. Central and South Florida is crack town USA now.... I grew up in Orlando with no fear of crime... not anymore. We honestly feel the need to lower ourselves on our cas seats going through a lot of places and neighborhoods in Orlando, in case a stray bullet hits the car. My wife has to go under the Princeton ramp to get to I-4 from work everyday, and she prays out loud that God will protect her from the crack dealers and bums who live near the area. It is terrifing, we can't wait to move in March. GRRRR... why isn't it March yet?!?! We can't wait to stop lying in fear of crime, paying too much, stuck in traffic..... uhhhh

Sunny, where I went for my senior year of high school, Dr. Philips High School in Orlando (supposedly a "nice" public school), had panic buttons on every classroom. Teacher had this little box around their neck that they could push if they got attacked/stabbed/shot by someone. A lot of times the danger were students.... now it is a lot of crack dealers who like to sell to the students.... they are on the offensive. The school parking lot had these "light posts" called panic stations, where people being attacked can push this button and hope security/cops would come to the flashing light on the post.
Mind you, the HS is located behind Universal Studios, on Turkey Lake Road in Orlando. That is how dangerous it is.
We had incidents of people being attacked on mall parking lots too, specially the ritzy and fancy Millenia Mall in Orlando. On the day the Playstation 3 came out, we had people being attacked in the mall. This is the criminal element we have in Orlando these days.
Let's not forget Jeniffer Kessy that was kidnapped and is possibly dead just for going to her apt, which by the way is loaced in a "nice area" in SW Orlando. Her rent, according to ForRent.com is $1,300/mo.... for what to get kidnapped??

oh I forgot that one too- It sounds like the LA freeways with drive-by shootings up there- I was in Kissimmee and remember it seemed like a depressed area- one of my relatives lives in Winter Park aand hates it - I think bcs of the schools. I never knew schools had to have panic buttons too! jeez.

I am moving in March 2007. Thanks for thinking of me.
Usted eres racista? No, a lot of Spanish people are very racist, they hate America, they hate being here... they are just here for work and send money to their countries. FYI, the word "Gringo" means "cracker". FYI, part 2, "gringo" denotes ANY American, and it a term used to denegrate/belittle and offend Americans of all races internationally.

Of course I agree with you on the learning English thing, or at least trying!!!
You just have the thing about English in your header, & then mention Mexicans, so it seemed a bit odd...
Well glad to hear you're moving from a place you hate, & glad you embrace American culture.
(I don't appeciate the neg however... )

I just want to remind you that this is the "worst of Florida" thread. It may examine issues that you think are negative.

Man, I have been in the US for a while now. I have worked my buttocks off, paid for college 100% out of pocket. I have had health insurance in ONLY 2 of my jobs, been sick before, had to pay out of pocket. I don't suck off the government, pay a lot in income taxes, love America!! I get REALLY ANGRY when people accuse America of the world's problems.... is it America's fault that crocked politicians run 3rd world countries, like Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Iran, etc?? NO!
My beef is how come ILLEGALS come in and waltz into a hospital, get free surgeries (non-emergency) and never pay?? Try doing that if you are American!! Is that fair to US Citizens?? Is it fair for legal immigrants who work hard and do everything by the book?? Also, if these amnesty-demanding illegals want their citizenship, why won't they TRY to integrate in American society as immigrants have done since 1620???
I REFUSE to speak Spanish with someone on the street. I would do it discreetly if they needed help, but just because they want to... nah. I learned English, my 86 year old grandma is taking classes so when she comes to VISIT (she does not live here, just visit), she can speak to my wife, people on the street, and etc.
I am sorry about the neg... man. I will give you a positive to even things out. I am sorry dude, I get attacked a LOT on this board, my score was almost 90 score at one point and I get liks 20 negs in one day for a posting.... people get mad when I post pics of MS-13 gang members, talk about the I-4 nightmare or the crazy costs of living, or crime....
Merry Christmas to you. *adds positive to posting*

Reminder:
REMINDER:
I am going to my cousin's grad today. I will be taking pics of the pitbulls chained to trees on people's front yards, if I am able to. I don't know if we can go to the neighborhoods where these pits are everywhere... wish me luck.
Also, I will get you more I-4 traffic shots. I think people only believe it when they see it.
Oh, and I will get some more fun shots to share. Get ready Muggy, this thread will grow very soon. A lot longer than 8 pages!!

I teach in Indiana and we have panic buttons in every classroom. It is an elementary school with no real threat towards the teachers or anyone else. I think it is a law to have these "buttons" in every classroom.
