I live in toronto and the cold here stinks! I would prefer 90 degree heat with humidity over below 0 temps any day.

As for below zero...you are really only talking Dec. through March to have a potential for that but that's 4 months too long.
we were getting snow in Nov when I left on sunday there was still snow on the ground.. it had snowed the day before and they were talking about another storm on the way.. We've had about 5 1/2 months of snow on the ground now equaling over 130 inches. I'm 15 mins from the Mass border btw so yeah we do get snow and if not snow cold for about 7-8 months a year. I was wearing coats and putting on the heat in Oct. and will continue that through probably Mid April possibly may.. I agree with all you said peter

Interior North Florida has the best climate in Florida. It is usually less humid than the coasts and nights get a bit cooler in the summer.

In the winter nights are cool and crisp with a flannel shirt and or windbreaker needed. We get a half dozen frosts on average each winter with one or two hard freezes down to the mid 20s at nite to knock back the bugs. It is almost always sunny even on the coldest days.

Cold rainy days are rare. Days that require warm clothes in the afternoon are rare. And unlike south Florida we get 4 seasons up here.

So far this March I have only dressed warmer than a T shirt on a few nippy mornings with the flannel shirt shed by 10 am. I work outside and I love this weather. The other day it pushed 90 and it slowed me down big time. Today is cool and less humid with highs in the 70s so I will get a lot done.

This is why I'm eventually moving to the St. Louis area. I lived there for 2.5 years awhile ago and visit often. I'd rather deal with wind chill 10 below for a couple weeks of the year and actually experience four seasons than deal with 95 degrees + 100% humidity with daily rain showers six months of the year. It's true that the December to February months have the best weather for central Florida, but I'd rather give it up to have a more pleasant spring/summer/fall.

As for outdoor activities - I play baseball, softball, soccer, and football. It seems that rarely there's a time we will KNOW we won't be rained on. I've played in leagues where half our games have been rained out - THAT'S no fun. There's a distinct lack of decent mountain biking or hiking (Florida barely has hills), so there are some sacrifices to be made.

For those who hate long winters, sometimes it's not a move to Florida that solves the problem, it's just a move to a place with less of a winter. Two friends have moved from Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to end up in Denver, and they love the weather there - 300+ sunny days a year? Sign me up - I sure can't get that in the Sunshine State! The winters aren't as bad since there isn't the Canadian air coming from the north combined with the lake-effect snow. My girlfriend is from the Cleveland area and spent some time growing up in Wisconsin, but she doesn't yet realize that Wisconsin and St. Louis are light years apart in terms of winter chill.

I don't hate Florida & I'm not trying to bash it.. but people should understand that no place is a perfect place to live, and Florida has its weather flaws as well (it can rain at any given day regardless of what it looks like in the morning/weather channel, and it really is hot & humid 9 months of the year - very little of the temperate nice fall & spring weather).

My PARENTS moved me down here. I'm not the sort that likes to move around a heckuva lot...so I'm STILL living in Florida, where I was living when I graduated high school.

You can always move to another, and maybe, better area.
