Looking to move around Ormond Beach area in June of 2019. I have twins who will be starting 9th grade and I would like to know what good private schools would you recommend in Volusia County.

There really aren't any top quality private schools in the area in terms of academics. Unless you're pushing a specific religious agenda on your kids, I would recommend Seabreeze High School in neighboring Daytona Beach which is ranked among the top 10% of high schools in FL. Principal's Msg - Seabreeze High School

Seabreeze was the joke school near the beach when I was growing up where kids would cut class to go to the beach.

The serious academic public school was spruce creek high and its well-established IB program, located in port Orange.

A lot can happen in that many years. One of my neighboring schools growing up in S Florida was Pompano Beach HS which was basically atrocious for decades. Now it's one of the top-ranked high schools in the state.

Pretty sure Seabreeze doesnt have anything to rival the IB program at spruce creek. Even now

Keep in mind that a child can do well even in a less than perfect school with parental involvement. Without it even the best schools will not mean the child ends up with a good education. Your participation is the major key, then followed by good teachers. Check if you can how many go to college and where. If a lot end up in a community college VS a lower ranked school, but many of their students end up in better schools even if a lower number, as that is important.

Unfortunately schools use these programs such as IB to prop up what is otherwise a lower achieving results. I think it would suffice to say schools that manage top 10% scores minus gifted programs are every bit as impressive.

That may be a fair assessment. If I were a high achieving student though, there is nothing to rival spruce creek imo, even on the private side in Volusia County. Unlike Orlando,, not a lot of great academic private schools in the area
