He could never afford it. Renting a bedroom in someone else' home in a walk-able area, would cost more than he can afford.

Come down here in August and September. Florida is loaded with people who come down in January and expect it to be like that all year long.

I have family scattered around the state which is another reason I’m even considering it. Some family is in Brevard County but, at least from what people I’ve talked to said, it isn’t very walkable. Would be nice to be that close to Disney though.

I apologize if I’m a bit all over the place in my posts. My search was much more broad when I first was toying with the idea of moving. I’d love to be sold on the idea of Florida.
Just dont' move to SoFla and you'll be okay. Bring a portable A/C unit that straps on the back of your chair because you're going to sweat buckets though.

Correct, it would be like moving to LA.

I and my wife chose the Central East Coast, here now checking on the house being built, and the issues So FL has are almost non existent where we are moving to.

x3 on avoiding SoFla. We lived there for 18 years before we left Florida. We're Central/east now and are very happy.

You'll be moving back to Escondido in due time, I have been reading your posts. There is still plenty of land in San Diego County, Ramona is calling.

Yep, I feel your pain, my wife and I spent 30+ years of our life in SoFla, leaving was bittersweet to say the least. It's too far gone at this point and only will get worse over the next 10 to 20 years there, $1,400/month (starting at) 1 bedroom apartment in a nice area and not even modern at that.

I have been on a mission here in SoCal educating people who are natives here or never been to SoFla who think in their minds it's "Cheap" there, I just LOL when I hear them saying how cheap it is and then say can you land that six figure salary in Miami you got here and afford the COL? They swallow and go 'Oh really"?
