Florida is one of the states with the highest rate of sex offenders. Pa has the least!!

Number 31 in ratio. It does have one of the highest in sheer numbers, considering Florida is the foruth largest state in the union.

As a life long Floridian, please note. Florida is a transient state comprised of people (the majority from NE USA and Texas) who have moved here. Good and Bad. We have been fortunate enough to withstand the tides of the transient population. Everyone who comes here has a pre-determined ideal of what it is or should be like... and the good news is, Florida offers it all! New communities are filled with people from some place else and are reflective from where they came. The best way to find the right place is to travel there and talk to the people. Stats continually change... look at Florida stats before the real estate boom and you'll find a different place. Next year it will be different again. Bradenton has great family communities, involved parents, and low crime. But in Manatee County as a whole, this may not be reflected because the stats are lumped together! If you are a stats kind of person, you may never move anywhere without some disappointment.

I LOVE Florida, warts and all, I never want to live anywhere else. For those that don't, I hope you find a place where you can be happier, no one place is for everyone.

I just wonder how long do I have to live here before I can claim to be a real Floridian?

I did read all of the stats, but Florida is a big state. It really depends on where you live. I moved from Philadelphia so to me and from my past experiences where I now live is way safer than where I came from. I did my research before I moved. I am happy with my decision as I am sure for those of you leaving, are happy with yours. Thank God we are free to move about the country~
