and if so what part of Florida? I lived in the Southeast and now Southwest and I guess the water table is too low here.

From what I hear it is doable but VERY expensive. I don't know if I would want to take the chance of having problems. When they did our pool, they had to have a couple of openings to let any water fill and recede so it wouldn't collapse the pool while waiting for inspections and electric to be installed. After all that was done, they filled the holes and then filled the pool.

Basements are one of the very few things I miss.

Me too. This is the first house in forty years that I haven't had to worry about a sump pump. Let it rain.

Yes, but only in Central Florida, mostly towards the west portion of Orange County and Lake County where the elevation is a bit higher and has a few "hills".

Places I've taken note of are Overlook by Cal Atlantic has a model or two with a walk out basement and the Legends community in Clermont had a few models I've seen listed.

I would imagine some homes in the hilly part of Florida around Clermont and up to Gainesville might have basements. Also maybe some homes on Georgia and Alabama lines ertc might be able to have basements.

I know of one house here in Palm Bay that brought in dirt and built a basement first level within the hill?they put on their lot and the first floor is above ground.

There are only 2 newer homes in the area I live in where I walk my dogs and both are on a raised mound at least 2 feet above other homes.

But what is the purpose of bringing in dirt to dig it out to make a basement?

The round house is bizarre and looks small, they must be using the basement as living area.

I have seen one house from the 30s in beachside Daytona Beach that has a half height cubbyhole, that you could consider a basement. After looking in There I thought what a great place for snakes and spiders to live, but not really beat for anything else. .

I would bet there are some in the northern half of counties like Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, or Walton. Isn't the highest hill in Florida up near the Alabama border in one of those counties?

NE Florida has dunes and there is one strange house on Atlantic Beach that seems to be built into a mound. There are a few others in Jacksonville that have basements. My high school in Tampa also has a basement. I would guess Tallahassee, which is inland and very hilly, probably has the most homes with basements, as basements are much more the norm there.

Basements in NMB and Norwood in N. Miami. Designed as a split level but had a basement and bedrooms on top of it. Living room and Kitchen on entry level. They are all old homes now. I lived in one briefly when growing up in NMB. Never had a wet basement either.
