Hi everyone, I am moving this Summer with my 3 kids to Florida - two of them are teenagers and the youngest is a pre-teen. I was wondering which city / county is best to live in considering that I'm a single mom and my kids are at a critical age. I also don't want it to be a place full of old people - I want us to be able to enjoy going out and having fun minus the crime/weird crowd/drugs ... what are your suggestions? I was hoping to go to Tampa and yet I was told it's a place for retirees .... insights plz?

Tampa is a great option and is very much NOT a place for retirees. Tampa's average age is 34 which is three years lower than the national average of 37. If looking for a good school at the middle school/high school level you should focus on the Tampa Plant HS district in South Tampa https://www.usnews.com/education/bes...gh-school-5065 or Robinson HS district also in South Tampa. https://www.usnews.com/education/bes...gh-school-5067

Thank you for the prompt reply. I was told that I have to focus on the zip code - how can I tell a good zip code area for renting a house?

Thanks again!

They would be mostly 33629 for Plant HS, with 33611 and 33616 largely for Robinson HS.

I’ve met a lot of people from Egypt here in Orlando. If money is no problem, check out Winter Park, Baldwin Park, Dr. Phillips. Otherwise, check out Windermere, Waterford Lakes, Oviedo.

I moved to Orlando from San Francisco and love it.

For the Tampa area and with schools a priority you should check out the Brandon area which is just east of Tampa. Excellent middle and high schools (Burns and Bloomingdale).

Bloomingdale isn't bad but trails Plant, Robinson and Steinbrenner in the Tampa area.

Basically the only Seniors/old people you would run into is at the Hard Rock Casino by the Fairgrounds. It's a big draw for Seniors that either drive in from outside Tampa or bussed in from locations all over Florida. But, Tampa itself, isn't a Senior area at all.
