Marble Cake, Would South Carolina be an option for you? We just returned from Bluffton. The people are the friendliest I have ever met. There are a ton of communities 55 and over, and all ages to. So much to do in the area, and great places to eat, and shop.

Quite frankly, I don't think it's even a debatable topic that conservative areas tend to be much more friendly. The whole Southern Hospitality thing. Think of all the places that are known for being unfriendly a rude, I mean, they are all progressive. Miami, New York, Baltimore, Chicago, LA, etc. etc. It's fine, there are certainly some really nice liberal small towns that are friendly and super cool, but the "conservative vibe" is a very real thing. Not sure where you get all this discrimination nonsense from, but whatever.

Anyone who has actually traveled and lived in a lot of areas doesn't even find the topic all that controversial. Everyone knows conservative areas are more friendly. But what does that even mean? Some people prefer more reserved areas, they don't like everyone waving to them or striking up a conversation in an elevator. Progressive areas tend to be that way. My wife is that way and she's European. She appreciates the whole southern hospitality thing but it makes her a little uncomfortable, too. It's just a cultural difference and neither is right or wrong.

But yeah, there is definitely a difference in the vibe between these areas.

Senior friendly, low cost of living, friendly, and low crime - I would check out Highlands County. Lake Placid area. Also other small towns like Mt Dora.

My dream would be to move there but unfortunately I have a limited budget. Thanks for your reply.
