The individual employee has NOTHING to do with the corporate donations. I'm sure the average Walmart employee isn't hoping for the complete privatization of public education, which will negatively impact the quality of their children's education in my opinion, but the Walton Foundation certainly is in favor.

Anyway, I'll take small talk at the register over a 45 second speech about what's on sale when I enter a mall store.

This is why I shop for everything online now.

No need to ever come into contact with any annoyances, human or otherwise!

What's wrong with malls? Oh wait let me guess: It's not online and requires walking through actual stores.

You don't need malls to walk. You can get lots of exercise without ever going in to a store and spending money on crap you can't take with you when you are dead.

Wal Mart and Winn Dixie have the self pay kiosks where you can bag your own groceries and not talk to anyone. There are choices for every personality type in the marketplace. Publix is known for is customer service. If you don't like that, shop somewhere else. You have choices!

My local Publix experimented with doing away with 'take a number' in the Deli department. When asked why, I was told that so the clerks could interact with customers and have conversation. The only conversation I want is the clerk saying 'OK' when I tell them I want the ham sliced thin.
Anyway, seems that after arguments as to 'who's next', the 'take a number' has returned.
