Doesn't surprise me. The politicization of corporations in the communications area is over the top.

I'm not a fan of Scott's and won't be voting for either him or Nelson in the Senate election, but that's not OK to suppress the news.

Then again why should Rick Scott who is a Martian care about our environment?

Thank God elections are in November. By that time the Algae will be gone and we can vote again for pro-business, anti-environment candidates like Rick Scott.

In the meantime let’s all enjoy the fragrance of big sugar. The dead fish, sea turtles and manatees are just collateral damage. Those who depend on tourism need to stop being snowflakes and find another job in the summer.

Sad but true post.
The hook worm and bacterial infections people are getting at the beaches aren’t much help for tourism either.

It must be affecting tourism. We had friends return early from a vacation and we just cancelled a trip next month.

I am very glad to hear this! The more it affects tourism, the more people will be motivated to do something.

I just wish it would affect the number of people moving here. Let that property tax income dry up and THEN we'll see some wheeny-whining.

Maybe I missed something -- but the article said that Feds (Corps of Engineers) fueled this environmental disaster by flushing nutrient-rich deposits from Lake Okeechobee into the coast at 3-4 times more flow than usual, due to Irma.

Not a fan of Scott but if I can read the Org Chart correctly -- he does not control the Feds.

And looking at this map -- the fingerprints are clear -- Where Okeechobee outlets into the Gulf (Ft Myers / Sanibel) -- that's the highest concentration of the problem.

Hmm, good point. Maybe he was right to blame Nelson, after all. Although he could spread it around to Rubio as well. But that'd be a double whammy for him, alienating both a fellow Republican AND the Cuban population who are fans of Marco.

Personally, I don't care about the blame, only the solution. I don't want to see political posturing, I want it fixed and I want it to be prevented from happening again. Instead of one side blaming the other and talking about who to vote for, we all need to make them all see that none of them will be back if they don't work together to find a resolution.
