We might be a 3rd world country, but we still got heart...
As a Floridian and a cuban , whosed lived in Miami 30 years, in some ways I agree with the senator from Colorado calling us a 3RD WORLD country...and as the news informed us today that he had to cancel his schedule Rodarty meeting at the Rusty Pelican resturant due to death threats...ya Miami is the place to be especially when some unknown hoods steal $5000 worth of collected toys by the Dania Firemen which was destined for kids with cancer. Now is that low or what! Yet the 3Rd world citizens of this great state within TWO days donated more than $50,000 , plus young and old, white or rainbow colored are all bringing in toys for the tots, and even the Florida Pathers drove in with a truck full of toys...we've got HEART!! The donations are still poring in...I guess not all is ugly under the palm trees.....Happy Holidays....

That is so great that so much was contributed for the less fortunate down there. That is unbelievable that someone stole the money that was supposed to go to the little ones.
I'm not familiar with what the Gov. from Colorado said, but are you sure he's talking about Cubans in general? I don't know of anyone who has a problem with Cubans as long as they're here legally.

Ya he does because he said that he was aware that in Havana, Cuba, there was no freedom of speech and after the threats he confirms that we are worse or a 3rd world country...

On tonight's news the police are saying as is the restaurant owners that the threats are BS. Remember, this is coming from the lips of a politician.

Even in the worst places there are still good people. In my experience the only reason people are bad in Miami is due to desperation and frustration. As long as goverment is your enemy, crimes will be common. Miami is a hell hole, but i bet that 90% of what people do is good in their own mind. Unlike the people my parents live next to, there are those who actually care and will help you. Even illegal immigrants have saved the lives of people in bad situations. This is why I judge people only after knowing their actions. But the climate in south Florida is one of survival at all costs. When the media lets people share their sad story with others, some will sympathize, and give. It's the holiday season after all, even if we can't feel it!

Tom Tancredo, who called Miami a third world country, is neither a Senator nor Colorado's Governor. He is in the House of Representatives.
The Congressman is an outspoken (to say the least!) advocate of immigration reform.
But he has a knack for putting his foot firmly in his mouth.
He himself was found to have illegal immigrants working at his home (his excuse: he had not asked about their status, so was unaware of it.)
This is the same guy who said the United States should bomb Mecca.
I do not find fault with everything he says, but he is not, shall we say, a deep thinker, nor much of a leader.

It's insulting to the fabric of America to suggest Miami is indicative of a Third World country. The United States of America is not just Peoria, IL or LaCrosse, WS, or Butte Montana.

Real nice town Miami that Tom Tancredo could not speak there and exercise his right to free speech because of bomb threats. That justifies his label of a third world country.. sorry.. but Miami sucks.

From the Rocky Mountain News, Denver's daily, here is the latest:
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drm...210888,00.html
In a release Wednesday night, Tancredo said he would visit Miami when the city had extricated itself "from the clutches of radical multiculturalists..."The threats could not be verified independently.
Ruthiness (are you searching for truthiness? ;-))
It really is a bummer--and counter productive--to shut down this visit. Immigration and the illegal alien situation certainly must be discussed, but Tancredo (who made his very own bomb threat on Mecca in retaliation for future possible terrorist threats) tends to spout lots of florid hyperbole yet neglects to provide any solid, pragmatic vision or solutions.
It's really too bad about the bomb threats.
When allowed to speak, Tancredo is his own worst enemy.
