Winter Springs ???
I am looking to relocate my family to Winter Springs. What are some good family oriented areas/subdivisions to look in. I am looking for 2 private homes 1 with about 4 bedrooms and the other with 3 with the option to build a second level. How is Casselberry? What is the job market like? Can someone give me some tips or some hot spots to look in for jobs. Construction, truck driver, sanitation...Please no negative comments I'm just looking for a nice place to set my roots and raise a family I have read such wonderful things about Seminole county. I am looking so forward to moving there. Thanks.

Winter Springs is pretty much nice all around. The Tuskawilla area in Winter Springs is one of the nicer areas. Casselberry has some nice areas and some not so nice areas. The nicer areas of Casselberry are in the Red Bug Lake Road area. I would suggest looking at Careerbulider.com, monster.com, cfec.org, and OrlandoJobs.com for some job listings. I would also suggested posting this question in the Orlando forum as you may get a better response there.

Thanks bdpop. Now when you say not such nice areas, is there anything to be worried about? I have to figure out how to post this in the Orlando thread. Thanks for the job info.

The bad areas of Casselberry are not as bad as some other bad parts of the metro area, but should be avoided if you do not have to live there. I would avoid the Fern Park area the most.

Fern Park is not really Casselberry, but I would avoid it. Deer Run is Casselberry is pretty nice as well as the housing developments along Red Bug Rd. I would stay away from areas along 17-92 or Seminola Blvd for the most part.

Now I'm getting nervous, why should these areas be avoided? I'm looking to relocate to Winter Springs with 3 small children. Also would you consider this area to be better than Kissimmee?

I would not worry about either Winter Springs or Casselberry. They are both safe and nice areas. Both areas have great schools as well. They do not even compare to Kissimmee. They are much better.

Winter Springs is the nicest area of those you mentioned IMO, but it is very suburban and family oriented. It really depends on whether you are looking for urban or surburban atmosphere and your level of income and what you can afford. I personally do not mind Casselberry as a whole or most of Seminole county. I do not like Kissimmee all that much as a place to live. There are nice areas along pleasant hill road and in celebration, but not much of actual Kissimmee. It is a very tourist heavy area with a lot of budget motels, chain restaurants, tourist traps, etc. The atmosphere of most of the area along 192 in the city of Kissimmee is kind of dumpy and low income. I do not feel unsafe when I go there, but I would just not look to move there. I think it is these things that people allude to when they use the "avoid" statements. You seem to be asking vague questions on entire parts of town that are not very close to each other or that comparable. If you give a better idea of the atmosphere and price range you are seeking, I think you will find this thread more helpful. Hope this helps!

Thanks. We are looking to buy two homes in Winter Springs around 300,000 range each. We have family in Orlando and weren't sure which way to go. The schools in WS seem much more to my liking and I've heard nice things about WS. We are coming from New York. We wanted to be closer to our family. I have read so many nice things about Winter Springs. But when it is said to avoid something, I want to know what am I avoiding? Is it dangerous? It's a big move with no coming back and I just want to make sure that we are making the right decision. I know areas to avoid here, drugs, dangerous areas that you never drive through. I avoid them at all costs and never have to travel through those areas. I live in a good area with horrible schools. There are gangs around town but not right by me. I feel safe for the most parts. How bad is Seminola Rd?

Where in NY are you coming from. If coming from NYC, neither Winter Springs or Casselberry will seem bad at all. They are very suburban. There are just some lower income areas in Casselberry. Seminola Blvd is not bad when talking crime, there are just some run down spots. You would be very safe in either area.
