I'm just curious about where people keep their thermostats set here in FL. Up north, we would set the thermostat at 73 day/68 night in the summer. But now, after being here a while, I find that cold and set it at 76 day/73 night every day of the year we run the air. But even this is feeling a little cold at times. I'm just curious where other people set their thermostats!

We also have had mold issues, especially when we leave town for a couple weeks and set the thermostat at 80. Last time we tried 78 and it was a little better. Is there an ideal temperature for keeping mold at bay?

78 during the day. 75 at night. But during the hot (85F+) days I drop it down to 76F in the day to cool of the house. And haven't had mold issues yet in the house.

My parents leave town for months at a time and put their ac on 80 and have never had mold issues. You may want to check that you don't have a water leak some place that may be causing the mold. Or a crack in the house that is letting the rain in.

What Da Bus (lol, I had to) said. Except I usually don't have to kick it down during the summer because the insulation is pretty good. My AC doesn't run much...

I usually shut it off around end of September and turn it back on around the end of April.
When it is on we keep it around 80

I am most comfortable at 68-72. Anything over 78 is pretty warm for indoors.

Since our Florida home is unoccupied for long periods of time in the Summer, I had a humidistat installed.

In the summer unoccupied, I set the humidistat at 65% and the thermostat set for 80 degrees.

I was assured that with those settings, I would have no mold problems. You must make sure you fight mold at any cost.......mold is a costly fix that can ruin a house.

So far it has worked perfectly. Remember, it is not the heat that causes mold, it is humidity.

73-74, pretty much all the time if the air is on. Heat goes on at 68.
