I don't have a lot of first hand knowledge of Winter Haven, but it is a beautiful community, like a smaller version of the town of Lakeland where I live. Winter Haven is home to the chain-of-lakes, which are all connected by navigable canals, done in the 1920's. Winter Haven has a beautiful little downtown, with a nice park and gorgeous library. Lots of neat architecture here, too. I don't really see anything not to like.

Good luck!

Hello. My wife and I have looked at new houses in the Winterhaven area. We were very impressed. The area we looked at was about a mile from Cypress Gardens. There was a brand new elementary school in walking distance of the development. The one thing I have not done is visit the down town area which I would have liked to do. Maybe next year. Whenever we look at houses down there, we always try to compare to Buffalo which is where we live now since we love our current neighborhood but hate the weather. The big difference we see is that there are never any children playing. I'm not sure why. School was not in session. Still need to figure that out. Lakeland and Winterhaven would definitely be our first choice. But for now, we will stay in Buffalo until I have the guts to move down full time which may not happen.
