I've been paying $537.35 this year. I got my notice in the mail saying in 2019 my premium will decrease to $507 per month for the same plan. This is shocking to me since every year my premium has increased double digits.

I was expecting another big increase because all I've seen is increase after increase, so this is a nice surprise, especially since Trump eliminated the fine if you don't have health insurance I thought it would make premiums increase more. I don't know, but either way I'm happy. It was scary opening the letter lol.

How is everyone else doing?

Not that shocking in my opinion since with the advent of the ACA those previously uninsured are now covered, where a few years of consistency has probably worked to stabilize the panic of unforeseen claims from all of the "new arrivals".

That makes sense too. I'm glad premiums seemed to have stabilized.

The dirty rich compadres that are paying nearly all the taxes? The top 5% of earners pay 60% of the taxes.

The top 50% pay 97.5% of the taxes. The bottom half pay 2.5% of federal income tax.

I'm in the top 5% and my group is paying 60% of all the federal income taxes...a 12:1 ratio. That means I'm supporting 12 lazy freeloaders.

The European method where health insurance is automatically taken out of your paycheck every week is better. The United States is the only developed nation without universal health insurance but we pay more for it than any other country and with lower health ratings at that. We're paying more for less.

Are you sure about that? And do you know why US has higher costs?

According to the Journal of American Medical Association the drivers for higher or much higher costs are:

-- We are much more obese than Euros. So medical spending follows suit.
-- higher equipment use rates, such as MRI
-- Admin expenses in US are almost 3 times higher than Europe. This included regulatory / compliance costs.
-- Doctor's salaries are about double here than in Europe.

Which one do you want to cut?

Many European countries use sales tax to fund their programs, many have sales tax around 20-25% along with higher income tax.
