It will if the GOP was smart and actually campaigned in the urban areas.

If both DeSantis and Scott outperformed Trump in the black/Hispanic vote than it's a good sign. It's not a good sign when you lose both the gov and Senate race, which is what the Dems did.

Marv95, Florida's demographic shift is what will doom the Republicans here, no matter how well they campaign, or perform in office. Performance in office is almost irrelevant.

We have had, and continue to have, a large hispanic migration into Florida, and most of them (not all) lean left. We also have a large wave of Americans migrating to Florida from Liberal states in the Northeast (NY, NJ, CN, MA, RI, NH), Midwest (Illinois, Michigan)who also predominently (not all) lean left.

Next election cycle, nearly a million felons will be voting in Florida, and they lean mostly (not all) left. If you look at the razor thin margins of victory the Republicans won by in Statewide elections (and some local elections too), these felons alone could have made this cycle a Blue wave.

What perplexes me is that no matter how well the Republicans perform in office, the vast majority (nearly all) of these left leaning voters will continue to vote Democrat. No matter how poorly Demorat politicians perform in office, the left leaning voters will continue to vote for Democrats. I've seen this playing out my entire life.

The only way Republican's win is if the independents vote Republican, and a few centrist/moderate Dems cross the aisle. Or, if the demographic profile for a certain electorate is predominantly Republican, like the Panhandle for instance. Or, if there's voter apathy and Dem turnout is lower than normal.

I think the only chance for survival Republicans have in Florida long term, is to soften their views on some of the social issues, and give a lot more free stuff away to certain groups. Republicans winning on the economy isn't enough. If they don't make these changes, Florida will wind up like Detroit, California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, & Puerto Rico.

Why? He bought his last two elections. He has a house in Naples. (Very RED area)

Well, it's finally over. Bill Nelson has conceded to Rick Scott.

A tragedy in so many ways. Sigh, Bill had already ceded his office to the operatives anyway. It would probably been different if he had just continued to serve his constituents.

sad day for environment...Trump just signed an environmental bill that has $1,300,000,000 in it for Florida.

people without health insurance...I thought Obama fixed that?

pre-existing conditions...Republicans have repeatedly agreed with Dems on this, stop watching so much CNN

education...Bill Nelson has been representing FLA for 40 years, so why does our education still lag? He failed us.

minorities...minority employment is at the highest level in over 50 years thx to Trump

the poor...both party's have been handing out money to the poor for how many years? The welfare state failed. Paying people not to work has not been a succesful strategy...time to try something else.

elderly...they are the ones with all the money. And, they get senior discounts everywhere they go. They already have Social Security and Medicare, so what else do they need? Rising interest rates will help them too.

Florida just sent backwards 50 years...good, we'll get another chance to do things right...the things Nelson did wrong for all those years that got us where we are at today; crappy schools, polluted waters, people w/o health insurance, record minority unemployment, mass shootings, homelessness, phosphate mines, increasing Red Tide. Geez Nelson didn't fix ANYTHING in 40 years. I wish we could have a do-over.

And they choked when it came to "REPEAL AND REPLACE"

They want their cake and to eat it too... No pre-existing conditions without individual mandate. It's why Romney did that in MA. Logic, it's a wonderful thing
