How is this affecting the Floridian budget?

Are you making adjustment to save gas?

Will this reach $4.00 per gl by Jun?
I see it hitting $5 in the major states & metro areas

I don't see it impacting family vacations to places like Disney World though b/c driving is still cheaper than flying if children are involved.

Its unfortunate US society is so transfixed on personal cars & that public transportation is rarely used nor readily available in most areas.

Gas overseas has always been more expensive. It was already around $6/gl in Seoul, Korea in 2003 & $5/gl in Sydney, AUS.

This morning in Tampa it was $3.29 / $3.39 / $3.49

I've noticed a few less cars on the road lately, come to think. People no longer have the money to go driving around on a whim. Used to be no big deal to pile you, the wife, and the kids into the car on a Saturday afternoon, go to the movies, have ice cream afterwards, and go home. That's tough to do now, and people seem to be pinching more pennies.

The prior posts say it well - the gov't really does make more than the oil companies. But the other biggest factor in gas prices is the value of the American Dollar. The lower it goes, the more you'll pay for everything.

And yet there are many who think a weaker dollar is a good thing. So many people have no clue.

I don't drive anywhere unless I need to. Thankfully I live within a mile of my job, and my wifes job too.

There has to be a cap for these people to stop with this extreme overpricing....
Watch the documentary "End of Suburbia". Watch it with the thought in mind it was made back in 2004 which was four years ago. See how much of what they predicted is now coming true. I think it will be a eye opener for you and everyone else. It is a MUST watch.

In protest of what? That isn't going to change anything.

I have carpool for 3 years and we are flexing our work schedule to 4 days of 10 hours to reduce the time on the road. Some companies are providing vans to get workers to the office (VA Hospitals) and save money.

We as users need to adjust or modified our driving habits. I don't think that a protest will achieve anything, regarless we have to fill-up and move on, so they get the money today or tomorrow..
