For me:

South FL = Miami MSA. More or less in agreement with the wikipedia page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Florida

The gulf side is Southwest FL. Of course, University of South Florida is in Tampa which understandably causes confusion.

There are pretty stark changes in flora as you traverse the three different zones.

North Florida looks nothing like Central Florida looks nothing like South Florida.

I'm guessing by the plant and wildlife. I actually found this site because I went on a walk the other day and was trying to figure out what type of palm tree I saw on my walk. I never did find an answer. Google did lead me here though lol. Palm tree about 10 feet high... had some fruit growing from it, probably double the size of an average grape.
