My fault I didn't get an education beyond high school, BUT, I make less than half what I did in Vegas & probably less than 1/3 of what I'd make for a similar office position in NY. So I guess the answer would be NO!

I make almost $10 an hour. If I made MORE than that, I would be unhappy.

I'm happy with my hubby's salary but he has a master's and works in water engineering so florida is like nirvana for him.

Myself, I'm sure I wouldn't make anything like I'd want but we'll find out in a couple years.

My annual salary is 10% less than what it was in NY. After taxes and other deductions, my paycheck is about the same. However, my benefits are A LOT better here in Fl.

Cheaper: Gas and entertainment
More expensive: Rent, car insurance, and food. (still haven't figured out why OJ from florida oranges is cheaper in NY than at publix....)

Overall quality of life is improved for around the same cost.

With my retirement and job I have a 6 digits salary and superb benefits so I can complain. My military skills translated perfectly to the job, I adjusted to the civilian way of life and protocol. Had to do some adjustments but was worth the effort.

Thank you.

How can anyone live on this? That's only 20,800.00 a year before taxes! It will not even pay rent on a tiny apartment in south Florida. It costs more just to drive to work!

Exactly....I make in the 30's and made that back in 1986, fresh out of college in NYC...but.....I do love my job, I've made fabulous friends by being a part of the Sarasota Film Festival, and my lifestyle works with my current income....once I take it to the next level by getting my CAM license, salary will increase along with responsibility....it's sometimes important to have income balanced with happyness....like they say, if you love what you do, the money will follow, sometimes though the payment is just in a different form.

Actually, my salary is fine compared with others who hold similar positions in my profession. It's the rising cost of living here that has hurt. Funny how quickly you have to develop budgeting skills after your windstorm insurance premium doubles!
